Providing a rich and diverse cultural experience, The San Diego Museum of Art is the region’s oldest, largest, and most visited art institution. Located in the heart of world-famous Balboa Park, its nationally renowned collections encompasses Spanish and Italian Old Masters, South Asian paintings including the Edwin Binney 3rd Collection of Indian paintings, and 19th and 20th century American paintings and sculptures.

Monday-Tuesday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm
Thursday and Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm
Sunday, 12:00 pm-5:00 pm
Museum is open til 8:00 pm on Fridays (Go San Diego Card must be redeemed by 5:30 pm)

Driving Directions

From the North: Take I-5 South and exit at Sassafras Street (Airport exit). Take a left on Laurel Street and cross the bridge into Balboa Park. The Museum is on the left hand side of the plaza, where the road dead-ends. From the South: Take I-5 North and exit at 6th Avenue. Take a left on Laurel Street and follow as above. From the East or West: Take 163 South and exit at University Avenue. Making no turns, you will be on 6th Avenue. Turn left on Laurel Street (El Prado) and follow as above.
